Nope, this is not a magazine on Berlusconi! Much rather, Fucking Good Art’s latest Italy travelogue references the “Cavaliere” only as symptomatic of our times of moral decay, in which independent intellectual and critical culture increasingly falls prey to a populist politics exacerbated by the financial crisis – and this, of course, rings true across Europe. The particular goal of this journey is to examine, via dialogue, the current artistic, social and political scene through the eyes of those involved on location. The structure of the book reflects the various stops between Rome and Palermo. Every chapter consists of diary entries that compile commentary, quotes, fact or fiction. Bottom line: in Italy, at least you’ll always have Italy!
Nein – dies ist kein Magazin über Berlusconi! In dem Italien-Reisebericht von Fucking Good Art steht »der Cavaliere« vielmehr paradigmatisch für unsere Zeit des moralischen Verfalls, in der unabhängige intellektuelle und kritische Kultur einer durch die Finanzkrise beschleunigten populistischen Politik zum Opfer fällt – und das betrifft schließlich ganz Europa. Insbesondere ist das Ziel dieser Reise die derzeitige künstlerische, soziale und politische Szene vor Ort in Gesprächen und durch die Augen der Involvierten zu erkunden. Die Struktur des Buches reflektiert dabei die verschiedenen Stationen von Rom nach Palermo. Jedes Kapitel besteht aus zusammengestellten Reisetagebucheinträgen, die Erfahrungen sowie Kommentare, Zitate, Fakten oder Fiktion wiedergeben. Fazit: in Italy, at least you’ll always have Italy!
